God's love for us

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1 John 4: 16 ESV

Carry your cross

Carry your cross:

The Cross was the best gift for the world though it was the saddest event in the life of the apostles. You too could be passing through tribulations but you do not know what this tribulation will bring about

Years from now, you may look behind and consider this tribulation is the best event in your life, as the Cross was the best event for humanity

The Lord invited us to bear our cross and said:
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me
Mt: 16: 24 & MK 8: 34

He made the bearing of the Cross a condition for the discipleship to Him. He said:
And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple
LK 14: 27

He Himself, during all the period of His Incarnation on earth, lived bearing the Cross. He lived a

life of pain, so that Isaiah said about Him that He is:
A Man of sorrow and acquainted with grief
Is 53: 3

The Cross is the narrow gate in which the Lord invited us to enter. Mt 7: 13

He said to us: In the world you will have tribulation. Jn 16: 33
And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. Mt 10: 22

Affliction brings blessings. To accept affliction for God's sake is a genuine act of holiness; for

true love is tested by adversities. Without affliction, virtue has not been tested

THE CROSS IN MY POCKET

THE CROSS IN MY POCKET

I carry a cross in my pocket,

A simple reminder to me

That I am a Christian,

No matter where I may be.

This little cross isn't magic,

Nor is it a good luck charm.

It isn't meant to protect me

From every physical harm.

It's not for identification

For all the world to see.

It's simply an understanding

Between my Savior and me.

It reminds me too, to be thankful

For my blessings every day,

And to strive to serve Him better

In all that I do or say.

When I put my hand in my pocket

To bring out a coin or a key,

The cross is there to remind me

Of the price He paid for me.

It's also a daily reminder

Of the peace and comfort I share

With all who know my Master

And give themselves to His care.

So, I carry a cross in my pocket

Reminding none but me

That Jesus Christ is Lord of my life,

If only I will let Him be.

Saint Frieg- Rwais

Saint Rwais lived a life detached from all pleasure of the world. He endured a lot of pain and persecutions.

He was not a Monk or a priest, but the depth of his love for God and his endurance to tribulations, has made him one of the greatest Saints of his time.

Even if man rejects tribulation.. God allows it for us to free us from our material tendencies and sensuality.

When we suffer from the pressure of tribulation, we pray to God asking His support and strength

Epiphany

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6: 4 NKJV

How victorious over sin beloved?

Escape.. Flee for your life.. Flee from sin and all it's temptations; Do not say I am a hero... "For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men." Proverbs 7: 26

Escape from the non simple glance.. Flee from the spoiler doubt.. Run away from the wicked atmosphere.
Keep your senses and your body's purity, as Joseph the prophet did when he fled from Potiphar's wife and said: "How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Genesis 39: 9

Fill yourself with Christ; A satisfied soul loathes the sin's poisoned honeycomb, through fasting, prayers, Gospel, Communions and Church attending assure that your God Jesus Christ is much stronger than sin.
And He is able to raise you from death of sin. He is able to create a clean new heart, He has changed the adulterer to Saint; He redeemed the thief.

Repentance, fighting and prayers

What's required is hating sin from all your heart.. trust and hope in God without despair no matter big or small your sins are..
The LORD is affectionate and a gracious Father.. you will remain His son forever..

Fight, holding tight all the weapons, Lord will support you
The greatest conquerors is through Him who loves us. "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." Romans 8:37

If we had it all - if you never

If you never felt pain, then how would you know that I am a Healer?

If you never had to pray, How would you know that I am a Deliverer?

If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an overcomer?

If you never felt sadness, How would you know that I am a Comforter?

If you never made a mistake, How would you know that I am a forgiver?

If you knew all, How would you know that I will answer your questions?

If you never were in trouble, How would you know that I will come to your rescue

If you never were broken, Then how would you know that I can make you whole?

If you never had a problem, How would you know that I can solve them?

If you never had any suffering, Then how would you know what I went through?

If you never went through the fire, Then how would you become pure?

If I gave you all things, How would you appreciate them?

If I never corrected you, How would you know that I love you?

If you had all power, Then how would you learn to depend on me?

If your life was perfect, Then what would you need me for?

Love, Jesus

HE KNOWS MY NAME

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
and He hears me when I call

I have a Father
He calls me His own
He will never leave me
No matter where I go

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
and He hears me when I call

Thinksgiving

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you." Luke 22: 19 - 20 NKJV

Suffering

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously. 1 Peter 2: 21 - 23 NKJV

Lord what do you want me to do?

So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” Acts 9: 6

Perhaps you do not know what is God's will for you.. The Bible explains to us: "God wants your salvation from your sins, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2: 4.

Do not delay repentance.

He wants mercy for all sinners, "For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings." Hosea 6: 6

He wants us to be holy, "For this is the will of God, your sanctification." 1 Thessalonians 4: 3.
He wants us to move away from worries and world's tribulation , "But I want you to be without care." 1 Corinthians 7: 32.
Caring of watch and be ready for the coming of Christ.

Matthew 25: 1-13

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,

4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’

7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’

9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’

12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

The Two Families of Orthodoxy

The Two Families of Orthodoxy address by Abba Seraphim Metropolitan of Glastonbury. Provided by the British Orthodox Church within the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria

Bournemouth Church’s Diamond Jubilee

The British Orthodox Parish of Christ the Saviour at Winton, Bournemouth, celebrated the church’s Diamond Jubilee with a visit from Abba Seraphim combining services and events over the weekend of 2-3 July. Although the parish was founded 75 years ago, the church – formerly a stable and carpenter’s workshop – was not purchased and converted until 1951. The celebrations began at the Church with Midday prayer and an address by Father Gregory Tillett on “The Year of Jubilee” and Abba Seraphim spoke about some of the witness and contribution made by departed church members, especially the faithful women of the church.  This was followed by a Reception and Buffet lunch in the Lounge of nearby St. Alban’s Church, Charminster. Among those attending were Fr. Robin Nash, parish priest of St. Albans and Father Marcus Brisley, parish priest of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation, Charminster. Also present were Councillor Beryl Baxter (Mayor of Bournemouth 2009-2010) and her husband, who live next to the Orthodox Church. Visiting BOC clergy included Fathers Sergius Scott and Seraphim Mina from London.

After lunch Fr. Gregory gave a talk, “The Mission to the Ninevites: Universal Orthodoxy in the West”, which was followed by a lively discussion. At 4.30 p.m. Abba Seraphim led a good number of clergy and people in prayers for past members and clergy of the church at the Wimborne Road Cemetery and flowers were placed on the graves of Archdeacon James Goddard, Flora Peckham, Father Stephen Hatherly and Martha Coppin. Evening Incense was raised at the Church and a Celebration Dinner was held at Bates Restaurant in Charminster.

On Sunday morning Abba Seraphim celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church and Fr. Simon preached the homily, weaving together the themes of the various lessons to emphasise the importance of fidelity. During the Liturgy Abba Seraphim ordained Readers Nicolae Popa,  John Morgan and Edward Smyth as subdeacons, the first two to serve at Bournemouth, the third at Portsmouth and Bournemouth. Subdeacon Christopher Barnes was ordained as a deacon to serve the Babingley Parish and Father Gregory Tillett, who is attached to the Bournemouth Church when in the United Kingdom,  was elevated to the order of hegoumenos.

Trials

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1: 6 - 7 NKJV
