Carry your cross

Carry your cross:

The Cross was the best gift for the world though it was the saddest event in the life of the apostles. You too could be passing through tribulations but you do not know what this tribulation will bring about

Years from now, you may look behind and consider this tribulation is the best event in your life, as the Cross was the best event for humanity

The Lord invited us to bear our cross and said:
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me
Mt: 16: 24 & MK 8: 34

He made the bearing of the Cross a condition for the discipleship to Him. He said:
And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple
LK 14: 27

He Himself, during all the period of His Incarnation on earth, lived bearing the Cross. He lived a

life of pain, so that Isaiah said about Him that He is:
A Man of sorrow and acquainted with grief
Is 53: 3

The Cross is the narrow gate in which the Lord invited us to enter. Mt 7: 13

He said to us: In the world you will have tribulation. Jn 16: 33
And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. Mt 10: 22

H. H. Pope Shenouda III

Affliction brings blessings. To accept affliction for God's sake is a genuine act of holiness; for

true love is tested by adversities. Without affliction, virtue has not been tested
